Caretaker Vacancy from July 2026

 

Due the recent retirement of our current caretaker, our teaching staff, the children, staff and governors 
of this happy and successful Infant and Nursery School wish to appoint someone with physical 
stamina and experience of DIY, general maintenance and record keeping to enhance our busy, 
nurturing and supportive school. 
We have a committed team of teaching and non-teaching staff and are keen to recruit someone who 
wants to give us the best place to be each day!

We are seeking a reliable and responsible Caretaker to join our team. As a Caretaker, you will 
be responsible for maintaining a clean, attractive, safe, secure and welcoming site through a 
process of regular monitoring of cleaning and routines and both the scheduled and dynamic 
maintenance of buildings, grounds, fixtures and fittings. This is a crucial role in ensuring a 
safe and welcoming environment for our children, staff and visitors. 
This role has some staff supervisory responsibility and some limited budgetary responsibility.  
Responsibility for others: The post has significant impact on the well-being of individuals or groups 
(ie physical, mental, social, health and safety). 
Responsibility for staff: The post supervises, checks work and instructs a small number of cleaning 
staff. 
Responsibility for budget: The post had limited responsibility for financial resources (Placing orders, 
within a given budget, to maintain adequate stock). 
Responsibility for physical resources: The post has considerable responsibility for cleaning and 
maintenance of equipment or buildings and responsibility for security of buildings and school site.

Cleaner Vacancy from September 2026

We are looking for experienced, passionate individuals to support our team of cleaning staff for 2hrs per day, 6.30am - 8.30am

Pay: £12.85 per hour (Scale A) 

Job description:

This is a permanent position, dependent upon completion of a successful 6mth probationary period. 

 

Working Weeks: Term - Time Only (38 Weeks) With occasional whole school training being accessed on Training Days as overtime and 2 weeks contracted hours during the school holidays, timings negotiable

DBS Required: Yes

Vulnerable Group: Children

Closing Date: NA - Rolling Recruitment

 

About the Role:

We are looking to appoint experienced / keen to learn cleaning staff to enhance our busy, thriving, nurturing school.

Our successful applicant will support our existing cleaning team to maintain their already high standards of cleanliness throughout the school, ensuring that areas are safe and ready to access.

 

To clean specified areas within the school in accordance with the school’s standards. Work is undertaken under the guidance of the caretaker.

 

Key Requirements: -

- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read instructions and work out simple measurements.

- Able to operate equipment and use materials

- Understands and can work to procedures, follow straightforward instructions and read labels.

- Have a positive outlook and respond positively to challenge.

- Be a real team player for the good of the staff, children and school as a whole; developing good personal relationships within a team.

- To competently use clear, grammatically correct spoken and written English.

- A flexible approach to challenge and change.

Lunch Supervisors needed for our Preschool and Nursery aged children from September 2026

Pay: £12.85 per hour (Scale A)

The role includes: 

- Setting up the lunch hall

- Supporting our 2-4 year olds whilst eating lunch in the dining hall

- Supporting our 2-4 years olds in setting to release staff for their lunch breaks.  

 

Successful applicants would be expected to obtain a Pediatric First Aid Certificate, which would be organised and funded by the school.  You will be calm, nurturing, flexible and have some understanding of/ willingness to learn about the EYFS curriculum.
