Physical Education

At Exhall Cedars we understand the importance of sports is to create a positive learning experience and environment for children, using inclusive and captivating lessons and extra-curricular activities. It is our intent at Exhall Cedars to teach children life skills that will positively impact on their future. We aim to deliver high-quality teaching and learning opportunities that inspire all children to succeed in physical activities and continue with these beyond their time at Cedars. We want to teach children how to cooperate and collaborate with others, as part of a team, understanding fairness to embed life-long values. We also want to encourage all of the children to lead healthy and positive lifestyles and teach them the benefits of exercise and healthy eating.

  • All pupils in Reception engage in 1 hour of timetabled PE teaching and learning per week. In KS1 the provision is increased to at least 2 hours per week.

  • All pupils take part in a daily 5-10 minute Wake and Shake session to encourage physical activity and co-ordination.

  • The school holds an annual Sports Day within FS and KS1 which parents attend, to raise the profile of PE within school and to ensure that all pupils are given the opportunity to participate and succeed within a competitive context.

  • We work alongside Superstar sport to offer a range of before and after school clubs such as; football, gymnastics, archery, dodgeball and basketball to encourage pupils to engage in physical activity away from the curriculum.
